We cordially invite you to the exhibition of the painter Ondřej Roubík: Taking Out.

In his latest series of paintings, Ondřej Roubík turns to silence, simplicity, and slowness. The Taking Out exhibition sensitively captures moments that are easily overlooked in the hustle and bustle of everyday life—without drama, with a quiet focus on the present and the situation itself. The artist is drawn to those seemingly empty spaces in time that gain a special power through their very ordinariness. Roubík's paintings and drawings resemble a paused flow—fragments of reality that remain unchanged and untouched. They form a kind of time loop, allowing the viewer to perceive the world without pressure or haste.

This new series is fundamentally different from his previous work in its minimalist aesthetic. Roubík leaves behind dynamic landscapes and symbolism to concentrate on simple, almost motionless compositions reminiscent of still lifes. He emphasizes formal qualities—composition, colour, and rhythm between individual works. The paintings engage in dialogue not only through subject matter, but also through colour, creating a unified visual language. This focus on colour and compositional integrity is central to the series and marks a new direction for the artist.

The exhibition is not about what happens, but about the art of letting things simply be. It is about the ability to observe without the need to intervene—about accepting things as they come. Roubík seems to consciously step into the background to let being itself emerge. He does not judge. He does not explain. Each painting becomes a quiet invitation to pause and slow down in a world that overwhelms us with stimuli and drives us into constant motion.

Ondřej Roubík: Taking Out

Ondřej Roubík is a contemporary Czech painter (born 1988), originally from Plzeň. From 2007 to 2014, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (with Prof. Vladimír Kokolia and Jiří Petrbok, academic painter). In 2011–2012, he participated in a study residency at The Royal Drawing School in London.

The exhibition will last until June 29, 2025 and will be freely accessible during the opening hours of Bistro & Bar Jatka78. MON-FRI 10.00 AM–23.00 PM, SAT-SUN 90 minutes before the performance (if played).
